Job Description: IP Litigation Legal Assistant

International AmLaw 100 law firm is seeking an experienced IP Litigation Legal Assistant for their Philadelphia office. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of strong patent (domestic and foreign) prosecution experience. Daily duties include conducting research, preparing documents for court hearings, scheduling meetings, and providing case status updates to clients.

Essential Functions:

1. Draft correspondence, memos, letters, etc., for IP attorneys and paralegals.
2. Interface directly with clients, including reporting filing of documents on their behalf.
3. Review, docket, and route mail and correspondences using docketing management software.
4. Prepare and electronically file U.S. patent and trademark applications through the USPTO website.
5. Check the status of specific matters with the USPTO.
6. Establish and maintain paper and electronic filing systems; classify, sort, and file documents.
7. Support the firm's monthly billing process, track attorney time records and billing.
8. Obtain, review, and analyze various case records, reports, and materials.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of current patent prosecution experience.
• Strong organizational skills to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
• Ability to work well under pressure and in a team environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Understanding of court rules, legal ethics, and professional standards.
