Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a Docketing Specialist to support its Intellectual Property practice in Houston, TX. The role focuses on maintaining the docketing system, creating and tracking due dates, and reviewing prosecution mail for US and foreign matters.

The candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in docketing, with a preference for a Bachelor’s degree; or 9+ years of experience in lieu of a degree. Strong MS Office skills and clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; in lieu of a degree, minimum 9 years of professional experience required.
• Experience with US and foreign trademark docketing required.
• Knowledge of docketing software applications a plus.
• Proficient in MS Office products, including Excel and Word.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Customer service-oriented.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Strong organization and attention to detail.
• Overtime and flexibility in schedule may be required from time to time.

Responsibilities

• Support the Intellectual Property practice as a Docketing Specialist.
• Maintain the firm’s docketing system.
• Create database records and docket or calendar due dates.
• De-docket or remove due dates when appropriate.
• Cultivate relationships and follow up with attorneys and/or paralegals regarding actions due.
• Docket and review US and foreign prosecution mail, opposition, interference, and/or appellate matters.
• Monitor and update attorney dockets daily.
• Track approaching deadlines.
• Intake and audit transfer files.
• Maintain knowledge of the latest domestic and foreign IP rules.
• Investigate and troubleshoot docketing issues or questions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
