Job summary

Eaton’s Global Energy Infrastructure Solutions (GEIS) division is seeking an IoT Product Engineer for the Syracuse, NY facility. This onsite role involves up to 25% travel and relocation assistance.

The salary range is $86,000–$126,000 per year, depending on skills and experience. The role focuses on requirements, interface definitions, design and documentation, and verification activities to deliver safe, compliant, and high-quality products and systems on schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, IT or related discipline from an accredited institution
• Minimum 3 years of related experience with embedded product development, firmware development, software development with micro controllers and embedded operating systems (including Zephyr, RTOS, Linux, etc.)
• Ability to travel (up to 25%) to support customer sites, suppliers, or testing activities
• Eaton will not sponsor immigration for this position (no CPT/OPT/STEM OPT/H-1B etc.)

Responsibilities

• Design Engineering and Requirements Management: document assumptions, track questions, confirm acceptance criteria; define functional/technical requirements, interfaces (ICDs), and traceability; create/update electrical design artifacts and participate in peer reviews
• Verification, Validation and Integration: draft test plans, set up tests, collect data, contribute to reports; support system test engineering activities
• Issue Resolution: identify risks, assist root-cause investigations, support timely closure with the team
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: participate in design reviews, collaborate with PM, Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to resolve issues and maintain schedule
