Job summary

South Chicago Packing is seeking an Inventory Control and Procurement Clerk to manage accurate ingredient and material records, support receiving, storage, planning, and purchasing administration across facilities in Chicago. The role partners with Supply Chain, Production, Quality, Procurement, and Accounting to ensure material availability and precise transactions.

The position requires a high school diploma with 5+ years in inventory, plus experience with ERP/MRP/WMS/CMMS and strong

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 5+ years in inventory, receiving, purchasing, or related fields.
• Experience maintaining detailed records and performing reconciliations.
• Proficiency with Excel/Word and ERP/MRP/WMS/CMMS or similar systems.
• Ability to operate a forklift after training.
• Clear English communication for safety, records, and coordination.
• Flexible schedule including occasional weekends or extended hours.

Responsibilities

• Receive inbound materials and verify items, quantities, conditions, and documentation.
• Assign storage locations and coordinate warehouse space and movements.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment per safety training.
• Identify damaged or nonconforming materials and route accordingly.
• Coordinate returns and ensure documentation for reverse logistics.
• Distribute ingredients to production and reconcile daily usage.
• Perform cycle counts and physical inventories; investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate inventory and spending records and assist Accounting in reconciliations.
• Coordinate cross-department actions when variances occur.
• Support material planning and procurement through accurate records and communication.
• Promote safe work practices and proper documentation.
