Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC in San Francisco, CA seeks an Inventory Manager to build and operate inventory from the ground up. This hands-on role starts with an empty stockroom and expands to multi-site factory inventory operations.

You will manage receiving, labeling, putaway, picking, and cycle counting, while establishing procedures and workflows and collaborating with the systems team to implement improvements.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in inventory management, warehouse operations, materials operations, or internal logistics.
• Experience building or substantially improving an inventory operation.
• Strong knowledge of receiving, putaway, picking, kitting, cycle counting, transfers, and inventory controls.
• Willingness to work directly in stockrooms, laboratories, and manufacturing spaces.
• Ability to move between strategic design and hands-on execution.
• Experience selecting and implementing inventory infrastructure and barcode systems.
• Familiarity with ERP, WMS, MES, or inventory-management systems.

Responsibilities

• Build inventory operations from the ground up across company facilities.
• Design and set up stockrooms, receiving areas, and storage locations.
• Execute core inventory activities: receiving, labeling, putaway, picking, kitting, issuing, cycle counting, transfers, and adjustments.
• Establish practical receiving procedures and ensure quick availability of material.
• Hire, train, and manage contractors or on-site inventory administrators as needed.
• Create location structures, naming conventions, barcode workflows, and standard work.
• Maintain visibility into inventory, location, and availability for use.
• Establish cycle-counting and physical inventory programs and investigate discrepancies.
• Own internal logistics and material movement between facilities; manage transfers and custody.
• Develop controls for serialized, high-value, consigned, returned, and nonconforming material.
• Serve as business owner for inventory tools and workflows; partner with systems team for improvements.
