Job summary

Avantor is seeking an Inventory Control and Material Management professional to support cycle counting, variance investigations, and chemical storage management. You will work across stockrooms, coordinate with QA/EHS on material disposition, and ensure GMP/GLP compliance in daily activities.

Responsibilities include receiving complex shipments, managing cold chain logistics, and generating actionable inventory reports.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 3+ years of inventory management/related experience in lab/pharma/regulatory environment.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and Outlook.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Experience with SAP MM or Oracle inventory modules.
• Experience with barcode scanning and handheld devices.
• Knowledge of chemical storage, segregation and SDS reference procedures.
• cGMP/GLP/ISO-regulated inventory environment experience with chemicals.
• Advanced SAP MM or Oracle inventory module proficiency.
• Experience with Lean Six Sigma tools (5S, VSM, RCA).
• Knowledge of hazardous materials shipping regulations.
• Experience with cold chain logistics.
• Familiarity with CAPA processes and quality management systems.
• Forklift certification.
• Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt.

Responsibilities

• Inventory control and variance investigation across stockrooms.
• Lead cycle counting and reconcile system vs. physical stock.
• Analyze variances to identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Prepare variance reports and support audits.
• Manage storage, handling and distribution of chemicals and consumables.
• Monitor shelf life and lot traceability for regulated materials.
• Coordinate with QA/EHS on disposition of non-conforming items.
• Receive and process high-value shipments including hazardous materials.
• Ensure GMP/GLP compliance in material handling and documentation.
• Maintain SOPs and participate in CAPA initiatives.
• Communicate inventory metrics to customers and stakeholders.
• Support cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives.
