We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Inventory Control & Receiving Specialist to join our Scranton, Iowa team. The Inventory Control & Receiving Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, receiving and verifying incoming materials, organizing stock locations, and supporting efficient warehouse and production operations. This role helps ensure materials are received, documented, stored, and available when needed while identifying and resolving inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.
Your Role in Our Mission:
- Receive, inspect, count, and verify incoming materials, supplies, and products against purchase orders, packing slips, bills of lading, and other receiving documentation.
- Enter receiving and inventory transactions accurately into the company’s ERP, inventory, or warehouse management system.
- Label, organize, stage, and store materials in designated locations to support efficient put-away, picking, cycle counting, and production needs.
- Monitor inventory levels, perform cycle counts, assist with physical inventories, and reconcile discrepancies between system records and physical stock.
- Identify, document, and communicate shortages, overages, damaged materials, incorrect shipments, and other inventory issues to the appropriate team members.
- Coordinate with purchasing, production, shipping, quality, and vendors to resolve receiving or inventory concerns.
- Prepare materials for return to vendors, including required documentation, packaging, and communication.
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized receiving and inventory areas in accordance with company procedures and safety expectations.
- Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks, as trained and authorized.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to inventory accuracy, material flow, receiving processes, and warehouse organization.
To Perform this Job Successfully:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in inventory control, receiving, warehouse operations, shipping/receiving, manufacturing, or a related environment preferred.
- Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications and inventory, ERP, or warehouse management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when counting, recording, labeling, and entering inventory information.
- Ability to read and interpret purchase orders, packing slips, part numbers, labels, and related documentation.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, distribution, or production-support environment.
- Knowledge of inventory control practices, cycle counting, material handling, and receiving procedures.
- Experience with ERP or inventory systems such as Epicor, or similar systems.
- Ability to identify process gaps and recommend improvements that support inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
