Job summary

The Division of Adult Institution at the Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility (MSDF) is seeking an Inventory Control Coordinator. This role manages the receiving/shipping dock, books MSDF Canteen materials, and coordinates material delivery to intra-institution users.

The position emphasizes accurate records, safe warehousing, and efficient stock control. Starting pay is $19.44/hour with excellent benefits; includes vacation, holidays, health/dental/vision insurance, and pension options.

  • Experience performing inventory counts and using related software.
  • Experience maintaining inventory and stocks.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility (MSDF) receiving and shipping dock.
  • Maintain warehouse environment, handle bookkeeping for MSDF Canteen, and ship materials to intra-institution users.
  • Store received materials properly and ensure safe, clean conditions.
  • Support general inventory control duties as assigned by supervisor.

Job description

The Division of Adult Institution is recruiting to fill an Inventory Control Coordinator position. This position is based out of Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility (Milwaukee, WI). This is a re-announcement.

Position Summary

Under the general supervision of the Financial Program Supervisor, this position is responsible for the operation of the Milwaukee Secure Detention Facility (MSDF) receiving and shipping dock and the maintenance of warehoused items. Duties include the receiving of materials purchased for the MSDF Canteen and attendant bookkeeping functions; shipping of materials through common carrier and through the MSDF delivery system to all intra-institution users, store received materials properly and maintain a neat, clean and safe warehouse environment.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule/range 03-10 with a starting pay rate of $19.44/hour, plus excellent benefits. Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensations Plan, Wisconsin Administrative Code, and statutes. A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

  • Experience supervising, training, and/or monitoring other staff on job duties
Special Requirements
  • Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
  • Operate a 21,000 lb. truck and be able to back in and/or out of loading docks and area.
  • Must meet the standards for driving a vehicle under the DOA Fleet Policy
  • Ability to climb on and off of truck beds.
  • Operate pallet jacks, forklifts and other equipment.
  • In the event of an urgent situation, the employee may be asked to work additional hours on their shift, holiday or weekend.
