Job summary

Mid States Concrete Industries is hiring an Inventory & Receiving Specialist in South Beloit, IL. You will receive, inspect, and document materials, maintain organized inventories, and use ERP systems to keep records accurate.

Forklift operation and attention to detail are essential for timely processing and safety. You will monitor stock levels, perform cycle counts, and communicate discrepancies to Purchasing and management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Responsibilities

• Receive incoming materials, parts, supplies, and equipment and verify against POs, packing slips, and invoices.
• Inspect incoming materials for damage or discrepancies and communicate issues to the appropriate department.
• Record receipts in the inventory system and label and store materials correctly.
• Maintain organized receiving areas and ensure safety and housekeeping.
• Move materials using fork truck or golf cart to appropriate locations.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and perform cycle counts and physical counts.
• Identify obsolete or excess inventory and communicate findings to management.
• Assist with ERP-based inventory processes and standardize practices across locations.

About the Role:

The Inventory & Receiving Specialist is responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, documenting, organizing, and maintaining inventory of materials, supplies, parts, and equipment used in Mid-States Concrete Industries' manufacturing operations. This position plays a key role in ensuring materials are available when needed, inventory records are accurate, and incoming shipments are properly processed.

Key Responsibilities:

Receiving

• Receive incoming materials, parts, supplies, equipment, and other deliveries.
• Verify shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices for quantity, description, condition, and accuracy.
• Inspect incoming materials for damage, shortages, or discrepancies and communicate issues to the appropriate department.
• Accurately record receipts in the Company's inventory and/or purchasing system.
• Label and properly identify received materials and ensure they are stored in the appropriate location.
• Maintain organized receiving areas and ensure materials do not create safety or housekeeping hazards.
• Communicate delivery delays, shortages, damaged goods, and other receiving issues to Purchasing and management.
• Assist with returns, credits, warranty claims, and vendor discrepancies as needed.
• Move received materials to the appropriate department, storage area, or job location. This requires use of a fork truck, golf cart, and other mobile equipment.

Inventory Management

• Maintain accurate inventory records for materials, parts, supplies, and other stocked items.
• Perform regular cycle counts and physical inventory counts.
• Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Monitor inventory levels and identify items that may require replenishment.
• Assist with establishing and maintaining appropriate minimum and maximum inventory levels.
• Ensure inventory is properly labeled, organized, and stored.
• Identify obsolete, excess, damaged, or slow-moving inventory and communicate findings to management.
• Maintain accurate inventory locations within the Company's inventory system.
• Assist in developing and maintaining standardized inventory processes across locations.

Qualifications:

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred

• Previous experience in inventory, receiving, warehouse, purchasing, manufacturing, or a related field.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with cycle counting and inventory reconciliation.
• Experience reading purchase orders, packing slips, and invoices.
• Ability to accurately enter and maintain data.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn inventory and ERP systems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees, vendors, drivers, and management.
• Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
• Must possess a valid, unrestricted driver’s license and have the ability to operate a forklift, golf cart, and other mobile equipment
• Experience with an ERP or inventory management system.
• Forklift certification or previous forklift experience.
