Job description

2nd Swing is a one of a kind, forward thinking, customer-centric golf retail company. Our employees are highly-valued, while working hard in a positive and supportive culture. At 2nd Swing you will find:

  • Vast Exposure to the Golf Industry
  • A Commitment to Total Well-Being
  • Opportunities to Discover Your Fit and Make an Impact
  • A Collaborative and Flexible Environment

The Inventory Analyst plays a critical role in how 2nd Swing buys, prices, and moves inventory across both new and used product. We buy, sell, and trade thousands of clubs a month, and the value of that inventory shifts constantly with season, model year, condition, and demand. This role sits at the intersection of data, inventory strategy, and golf equipment. You'll spend as much time understanding the product and business as you do working in spreadsheets.

This isn't a reporting role. Your analysis will directly influence what we buy, what we pay, how we price it, where we sell it, and when we move it.

Responsibilities:
  • Heavy leadership needed in forecast and demand planning.
  • Analyze inventory levels, aging, turnover, sell-through, margin, and demand across new and used product categories to identify opportunities and risks
  • Monitor market pricing and competitive comps to make recommendations that balance sales velocity, margin, and inventory age
  • Execute and measure the impact of pricing changes, markdowns, promotions, and inventory transfers, adjusting strategy based on results
  • Analyze trade-in, buy-side, historical sales, and market data to help inform acquisition values and future purchasing decisions
  • Partner with Buyers to recommend order quantities, product mix, inventory depth, and timing based on sales trends, product lifecycles, and demand.
  • Identify overstock, aging inventory, and other opportunities to improve inventory productivity across stores and e-commerce
  • Build and maintain reporting on key inventory metrics, including turnover, sell-through, margin, aging, shrink, and stock accuracy
  • Partner with Buying, E-Commerce, Store, and Operations teams to optimize inventory across locations and channels
  • Monitor new model releases, seasonal shifts, competitive activity, and category trends and translate data into actionable recommendations
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years in inventory forecast and demand planning, analysis, merchandising, retail planning, buying, pricing, or a similar analytical role
  • Experience working with category managers to budget, forecast and plan inventory spend and product needs.
  • Experience at a company that operates both physical retail stores and an e-commerce platform
  • Hands-on experience analyzing inventory across multiple channels, locations, or product categories
  • Strong understanding of inventory metrics including sell-through, aging, turnover, margin, markdowns, and stock levels
  • Golf industry knowledge: familiarity with brands, model cycles, product lifecycles, and equipment condition standards
  • Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, large data sets); experience with an ERP, inventory management, or business intelligence system
  • Comfort working with imperfect data and using it to draw practical, commercially-focused conclusions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data into actionable recommendations
  • Knowledge and strong skillset working with AI to optimize and be most efficient in this role.
  • Employee Programs
  • Paid Time Off and Holidays
  • 401k with eligible company match
  • Health Insurance
  • HSA/FSA options
  • Discounted Merchandise
  • Continued Training and Development
  • Work Life Balance
