Job summary

DICK'S Sporting Goods is seeking an Associate Inventory Planner to drive allocation and replenishment strategies across mid-level businesses. You will build store plans, ensure correct assortments, and maintain optimal inventory levels to support the merchandise plan and omni-channel initiatives.

The role collaborates with AR Managers, Merchandise Planners, and Buyers to maximize inventory efficiency, improve turn, and align with regional and advertising schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• 3-5 years experience in merchandise allocations and/or planning.
• Advanced Excel skills (Vlookups, pivot tables, advanced formula calculations).
• JDA Allocations and/or E3 experience required.
• Strong mathematical skills.
• Training experience required.
• Strong communications skills.

Responsibilities

• Allocate bulk purchase orders using the Allocations system and place replenishment purchase orders.
• Maintain proper inventory levels by store location to support sales, margin and turn goals.
• Partner with AR Manager and Buyers to identify opportunities and action plans for merchandise allocation and replenishment buy strategies.
• Review regular in-stock reporting for key and advertised items and determine actions to correct in-stock issues promptly.
• Utilize knowledge of customer needs to optimize system settings, processes, and procedures for omni-channel operations.
• Facilitate meetings with Buyers and Merchandise Planners on item flow based on ladder plans, replenishment forecasts, OTB, and advertising schedules.
• Partner with AR Manager/Inventory Planner to manage cluster creation for areas of responsibility.
• Train and mentor interns and merchandise trainees.
• Manage item eligibility through ITEL for areas of responsibility and ensure proper assortment within allocation systems and in-stock reporting.
• Analyze and communicate product, size, color and regional inventory needs; review size/color/seasonal profiles to ensure appropriate buys and allocations.
• Work with vendors to improve order fill rates, lead times, and projected inventory needs for future orders.
• Recommend and execute inventory re-balancing opportunities as needed.
• Research and respond to store merchandise needs and wants.
• Participate in regional and store-specific calls to identify and action store needs.
• For new and existing stores: collaborate with Merchants to create merchandise financial and assortment plans; monitor store performance post-opening to maintain optimal inventory levels.
• Create ad-hoc analyses to react to trends and present findings to AR Manager/Inventory Planner, Buyers and Merchandise Planners.
