Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina (MUHA) is seeking a Cardiovascular Technologist I to support physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease in an invasive procedure environment, focusing on diagnostic catheterization and interventional procedures. This role serves as a resource to staff in the cath lab.

The position requires RCIS/RCES/CEPS or RT(R)CI certification within 2 years, BLS, and ACLS within 3 months of hire; 12 scheduled weekly hours with pay hourly.

Qualifications

• RCIS, RCES, CEPS, or RT(R)CI certification required within the first 2 years of hire and must be maintained.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within three months of hire and thereafter maintained.

Responsibilities

• Performs scrub duties and related procedures for cardiac interventions, left heart catheterization and right and left heart catheterization with no assistance.
• Performs scrub duties and related procedures for peripheral diagnostics or interventions with minimal assistance.
• Ability to scrub, gown, glove and set up back table with necessary equipment.
• Records cardiac interventions, left heart catheterization and left and right heart catheterization hemodynamics with accuracy. Monitors procedure, and documents inventory used and order of events appropriately in MacLab event log.
• Maintains ECG set up and rhythm monitoring.
• Maintains basic hemodynamic set up and waveform monitoring.
• Assists in preparation of room with fellow staff members for safe, effective care of patient.
• Performs required checks on all safety equipment.
