Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an experienced Interventional Radiology Coder to support accurate coding, review, and charge capture of IR professional services. This role requires current hands-on IR coding experience and a deep knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding.

You will work with physicians and revenue cycle teams to ensure compliant coding and optimal reimbursement, coding IR procedures such as embolizations, vascular interventions, angiography, and related services.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Active coding certification such as CPC, CCS, CIRCC, or equivalent.
• Minimum of three years of professional medical coding experience.
• Minimum of two years of dedicated Interventional Radiology coding experience.
• Expert knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding.
• Strong knowledge of IR coding guidelines, NCCI edits, modifier application, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining quality and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Review documentation and reports to assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
• Code complex IR professional services, including vascular interventions and embolization.
• Apply modifiers and ensure payer-specific coding compliance.
• Identify and resolve coding edits, denials, and documentation gaps.
• Collaborate with physicians and revenue cycle teams to support reimbursement.""Remain current on CPT/ICD-10-CM changes and payer rules.
• Support backlog reduction and special coding projects as assigned.
