Job summary

UCI Health in Orange County is seeking an admissions scheduling specialist to coordinate Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures. You will ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and forwarded to appropriate departments, and you will determine funding sources and physician documentation for proposed procedures.

Coordinate dates with physicians, staff, room and anesthesiologist availability, and communicate with patients to obtain demographics and financial data.

Qualifications

• General understanding of medical terminology.
• Knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT codes.
• Experience with MS Office, Signature, and TDS.
• Experience in a hospital or medical office setting.
• Knowledge of registration, third-party payers, government funded programs, and managed care.
• Experience with referral authorization process.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients for Interventional Radiology procedures.
• Ensure all paperwork is completed and forwarded to appropriate departments.
• Coordinate procedure date and time based on physician, staff, room and anesthesiologist availability.
• Communicate effectively with patients to obtain demographic and financial data.
• Provide accurate wait time estimates when available.
• Act as a liaison between admissions, other departments and IR.
• Notify departments and patients if procedure date/time is rescheduled and update all as necessary.
• Input demographic and financial data into the SMS System.
