Job summary

Albany Medical College is seeking an Interventional Pulmonologist to join the Division of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. The role includes outpatient, inpatient consults, and a busy ICU, teaching fellows and residents within a vibrant academic center.

The successful candidate will perform advanced bronchoscopy, EBUS, navigational/robotic bronchoscopy, airway stenting, and other complex airway procedures, collaborating with thoracic surgery, oncology, radiology, and pathology.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.
• Interventional Pulmonary Fellowship trained and AABIP board certified or eligible.
• Experience with EBUS, navigational bronchoscopy, rigid bronchoscopy, airway stenting, and management of complex airway disease.
• Interest in an academic medical center environment, including education, research, and/or quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive clinical care to patients with complex pulmonary and airway disorders.
• Perform advanced diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy procedures: EBUS, navigational bronchoscopy, robotic bronchoscopy, rigid bronchoscopy, airway stenting, tumor debulking/ablation, central airway obstruction management, and bronchoscopy for nodules/masses.
• Evaluate and manage patients with complex pleural disease (pleural effusions, pneumothorax, malignant pleural disease).
• Perform advanced pleural procedures such as thoracentesis, chest tube placement, indwelling pleural catheter, and medical thoracoscopy.
• Collaborate with pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, medical/radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Educate and mentor residents, fellows, medical students, and advanced practice providers.
