Aster Mental Health is seeking an Interventional Psychiatry Technician to support our private practice in the Boston area. The role involves direct patient care including TMS administration and Spravato monitoring, with emphasis on patient safety and coordination with the treatment team.

Ideal candidates bring medical office experience, basic clinical skills, and strong English communication. The position involves scheduling, paperwork, and patient inquiries in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Qualifications

Experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
Completion of a medical assistant program is preferred.
Basic Life Support Certification preferred.
One year of related psychiatric experience preferred.
Must fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
Ability to interpret basic medical terminology and measurements.

Responsibilities

Administer and monitor TMS treatments (training provided).
Monitor Spravato (esketamine) treatment during and after administration.
Finalize patient paperwork with insurance (Prior Authorizations).
Handle scheduling and data entry for treatments and authorizations.
Perform basic clinical tasks (vital signs) with patients.
Respond to patient inquiries related to interventional psychiatry.
Build relationships with patients during treatment sessions.
Coordinate patient care with the in-house team.
Support marketing outreach to referral sources in the local community.

Job description

Aster Mental Health is currently searching for a suitably qualified Interventional Psychiatry Technician to support our growing clinical needs. Position immediately available.

Our practice is a physician-led, patient-first private practice that provides integrated psychiatric and counseling treatment to adolescents and adults. Our patients are high functioning with strong familial and friendship support networks and an active interest in pursuing their individual, couple, or family therapy treatment. We prioritize patient needs which determine treatment frequency and approaches, which may include psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, relational/attachment-based, CBT and other validated approaches. Role Responsibilities:

Administer and monitor Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) treatments to patients (training provided)
Monitor patients undertaking Spravato (esketamine) treatment during administration and post-administration
Work with staff and insurance companies as needed to finalize patient paperwork, including Prior Authorizations, prior to treatment
Manage administrative tasks related to treatment (e.g., scheduling, entering authorizations, etc.)
Administer clinical tasks (e.g., taking vital signs) with patients
Respond to incoming patient inquiries related to interventional psychiatry
Build relationships with patients during their treatment sessions
Coordinate patient care with their in-house treatment team
Reach out to potential referral sources (therapists, physicians, etc) in the local community to promote our medication management, therapy, TMS, and esketamine treatment availability
Provide administrative support to the front office team, as availability allows

Qualifications

Experience in medical office setting preferred
High school diploma required, College degree preferred
Successful completion of a medical assistant program preferred
Basic Life Support Certification preferred
One year of related previous work experience in a psychiatric setting is preferred
Ability to effectively and fluently speak, read, and write English
Ability to perform basic math and quantitative measurements, e.g. obtains height and weight, etc.
Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate in a courteous, pleasant and professional manner
Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work
Ability to accurately interpret and utilize basic medical terminology and abbreviations
Ability to work independently and to make decisions based on department polices and established procedures
Excellent attention to detail
Basic computer proficiency inclusive of ability to access, enter, and interpret computerized data/information
Must be able to maintain strict adherence to protocols related to confidential or sensitive information

Characteristics of an ideal candidate:

Medical assistant experienceof at least 1 year preferred
Experience administering TMS and/or Spravato to patients preferred
Experience working with private insurance companies, submitting PA's, PHQ9's, PHQ10's and other patient related paperwork
Displays a "patient first" mentality
Self-starter and self-manager
Exemplifies strong work ethic and operates with highest level of integrity in and outside of the office
Interacts professionally and courteously with all patients, staff, and doctors
Detail oriented
Physically able to stand on feet for many hours at a time
Excels at multi-tasking and managing priorities with conflicting demands
Ability to reach out to patients for marketing or re-marketing efforts.
