Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking an Intervention Specialist for South Columbus Preparatory Academy - Southfield in Columbus, Ohio. The role focuses on supporting students eligible for special education, coordinating with teachers, delivering targeted interventions, and facilitating IEP meetings to advance student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of State Standards and Common Core Standards.
• Experience in full room inclusion or Co-Teaching in a Resource Room model.
• Comfort with growth-focused coaching, observations, and progress monitoring.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook).
• Ability to pass federal and state background checks; multicultural setting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with classroom teachers to interpret abilities and disabilities and adapt interventions.
• Conduct diagnostic assessments for instruction.
• Conduct functional behavior assessments.
• Write and implement behavior improvement plans.
• Facilitate IEP meetings and write IEP goals and objectives.
• Strive to meet all goals related to student achievement and culture.
• Use research-based practices in planning and instruction.
• Incorporate culturally responsive teaching daily.
• Serve as advisor for a designated group of students.
• Communicate with families about academic and social-emotional growth.
• Plan and support non-instructional activities and field trips.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
