Job summary

Virginia AG seeks an experienced contract oversight professional to manage maintenance activities and contractor performance across interstate and primary routes in the district. You will ensure compliance with contract terms, coordinate reviews, and report progress to regional leadership.

The role requires strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills to manage multiple projects and meet milestones. A solid understanding of procurement regulations and incident response is essential.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with contractors, local officials and VDOT staff, lead and facilitate meetings and discussions, and give presentations to diverse groups.
• Ability to resolve issues, negotiate resolutions and work independently while managing multiple projects with milestones that must be met.
• Experience in contract development, administration, general knowledge of procurement laws and regulations.
• Experience supervising staff, programs and evaluating the work of others to include contractual performance assessments.
• Experience updating, maintaining a variety of records, as well as analyzing and compiling information into reports and presentations.
• Knowledge of Incident Command structure and ability to represent VDOT at incidents in a command or support role.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily oversight over contractor performing maintenance activities on interstates and major primaries, including facilities and assets.
• Monitor work to ensure compliance with contract requirements and report to Residency, District and Central Office.
• Provide daily management of assigned contract monitors.
• Conduct field reviews of work in progress and completed work; provide status updates.
• Review contractor work plans and advise on adjustments to meet maintenance needs.
• Attend monthly meetings with contractor and VDOT staff to review performance and remedial actions.
