Job summary

UNM Hospital is seeking an internal medicine pharmacist for the inpatient team. The role involves consulting with physicians, educating patients and families on drug usage, and ensuring safe, cost-effective therapy for diverse age groups in inpatient and ambulatory settings.

The position requires graduation from an accredited college of pharmacy and NM pharmacist licensure within 90 days, plus CPR/BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Pharmacist graduate from an accredited college of pharmacy.
• Current or pending NM Pharmacist license with in-state eligibility.
• CPR for Healthcare/BLS or professional Rescuers within 30 days.
• Experience as a licensed pharmacist in hospital or community settings.
• Board certification is optional or not required but a plus.

Responsibilities

• Consult with physicians and educate on drug usage, dosing, and substitutions.
• Compound and dispense medications per physician orders.
• Enter prescriptions into the pharmacy system and review for completeness and safety.
• Participate in CQI programs and adherence to department policies.
• Provide patient counseling and involvement in education for discharge planning.
