Job summary

UNM Hospitals seeks an internal medicine pharmacist for the inpatient team. The role focuses on safe, cost-effective drug use across inpatient and ambulatory settings, with emphasis on education and collaboration with physicians and staff.

The position includes patient counseling, participation in CQI programs, and opportunities to contribute to clinical practice guidelines, with rotating shifts and weekend coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Program graduate (Pharmacist)
• Board Certification in Pharmacy
• NM Pharmacist License required within 90 days of start
• NM Chemotherapy Certification expected
• CPR/BLS certification within 30 days

Responsibilities

• Consult with physicians, other health professionals, and patients about drug usage and dosing.
• Compound and dispense medications and ensure adherence to policies and guidelines.
• Participate in CQI and other departmental programs.
• Educate patients, families and healthcare staff about drugs and therapy.
• Maintain inventory records for narcotics and controlled substances.
