Job summary

Vertex is seeking a 6-month Internal Audit Co-Op in Boston to gain hands-on experience in audits, IT and business controls, and data analytics. You will participate in planning, testing, and reporting while learning from audit leads and cross-functional teams.

The program runs January–July 2027; candidates must be enrolled in an advanced degree and able to work full-time, 40 hours per week. Hybrid schedule with three days on-site in Boston; applications reviewed on a rolling basis.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, MIS, Economics, or related field
• Strong organization and attention to detail
• Analytical, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
• Willingness to work in a complex team environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorship for internships

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and execution of audits, internal applications, and data analytics projects
• Document audit work papers and monitor audit issues
• Assist with test plans, and automate internal audit workpapers
• Support audit team lead with walkthrough minutes and weekly agendas
• Collaborate with business and IT partners to build client relationships
• Support special projects as needed
