Job summary

New York Air Brake is seeking a Process Engineer to evaluate improvement projects, assist with shutdowns and startups, and monitor process quality and conditions to optimize manufacturing performance.

A degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering with GPA 3.0+ is required, with entering junior year. Familiarity with 5S/Lean, strong communication, and excellent time management will help you contribute to efficiency, safety, and cost reduction.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate product improvement or cost optimization projects by conducting trials and writing trial reports.
  • Assist with machine shutdowns and start-ups.
  • Monitor, assess, analyze, and optimize process quality and conditions.
  • Monitor, assess, and analyze process variability.
  • Reduce environmental impact and support production capacity improvements.
  • Provide technical process engineering support to increase capacity, safety and quality.
  • Leverage process engineering capability to support production process continuous improvement using operational excellence tools.
  • Support capital project work from scoping through installation under technical supervision.
  • Assist in the design and technical supervision of plant studies and contribute to the design of the final project installation.

Essential Functions


  • Evaluate product improvement or cost optimization projects by conducting trials, including development of trial plans and authoring trial reports

  • Assist with machine shutdowns and start-ups

  • Monitor, assess, analyze, and optimize process quality and conditions

  • Monitor, assess, and analyze process variability

  • Reduce environmental impact

  • Provide technical support for key departments

  • Utilize problem-solving and analytical skills to achieve department initiatives.

  • Provide process engineering support to increase manufacturing capacity, improve safety/quality, and reduce manufacturing costs.

  • Leverage process engineering capability to support production process continuous improvement using operational excellence tools.

  • Support capital project work from scoping through installation under technical supervision

  • Assist in the design and technical supervision of plant studies and contribute to the design of the final project installation.

Education:
