Job summary

Floor & Decor is looking for a design consultant to meet with customers, understand their project needs, and craft design concepts that blend personal style with budget. The role involves educating clients on requirements, scheduling appointments, and guiding projects from inquiry to installation.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year in interior design or retail/sales, with strong math, computer, and communication skills. Travel is limited, and the store environment is fast-paced and collaborative.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of interior design experience or prior retail/sales experience
• Degree in Design is a plus
• Knowledge of hard surface flooring is a plus
• Proficient in basic mathematical skills
• Must be self‑motivated and able to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite
• Internal candidates must have 12 months of experience in a design consultant position

Responsibilities

• Greet store customers in a helpful manner and support store design walk‑in needs
• Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers, while developing clientele through networking and referrals, as well as leads generated within the store
• Provide tile, wood, stone and accessories advice to homeowners, interior designers, and builders for both residential and commercial projects
• Design and sell complete, functional and aesthetically appealing solutions
• Manage multiple, simultaneous customer projects through all phases with a high level of accuracy, timeliness and follow‑up including concise communication to customers and others
• Proficient and consistent use of company communication tools and emails
• Collaborate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation, and achieve sales and other goals
• Enthusiastically support all company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees
• Engage in current and emerging design trends in your market
• Understand and utilize design applications i.e.; Salesforce, proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, MyProject
• Perform other duties as assigned
