Vaco in Irvine, CA is seeking an Interim Staff Accountant to support core general ledger activities, month-end close, reconciliations, and audit prep. This role helps build scalable close processes as the organization grows.

You will partner with business leaders for accruals, manage prepaid assets, post journal entries, and assist with audits. Strong GAAP knowledge and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 1–3 years accounting experience; public accounting preferred.
• Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
• Analytical and detail-oriented with large data volumes.
• GAAP knowledge; CPA highly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; NetSuite or SAP experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monthly & quarterly accruals with budget owners.
• Prepare schedules for prepaid assets and related calculations.
• Post journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Support month-end close and process improvements.
• Assist with AP system rollout and internal controls.
• Liaise with external auditors and provide documentation.
• Provide flexible cross-functional support to finance and exec teams.
