Job summary

Johnston County Public Schools is seeking an Interim Head Custodian for Archer Lodge Middle School in Wendell, NC. This 12-month position involves cleaning, light maintenance, and supervising staff to ensure safe, clean facilities.

The role requires lifting 25–50 lbs, operating cleaning equipment, and coordinating custodial duties with the principal. A Class B CDL eligibility and residency/work eligibility are required. Employment includes benefits and a full-time schedule.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
• Cleans restroom areas and replenishes supplies, cleans windows and fixtures.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. and not exceed 50 lbs.
• Must be eligible to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and maintains floor surfaces.
• Polices grounds and shovels snow or applies de-icing compounds as needed.
• Replaces burned-out light bulbs and maintains fixtures.
• Performs minor maintenance on appliances within abilities.
• May open/secure buildings at start/end of day and set up spaces for events.
