Interim Nurse Manager Labor and Delivery

Kirby Bates Associates, a nationally recognized healthcare leadership firm, is seeking an Interim Nurse Manager of Labor and Delivery for an engagement in Washington State. This high-volume facility averages 550–600 deliveries per month and features a Level IV NICU, providing comprehensive care for the most complex neonatal cases.

Overview: The Interim Manager will oversee approximately 140 full-time equivalents (FTEs) and report to the Senior Director of Women’s & Children’s Services. This is a dynamic leadership opportunity within a well-established healthcare organization.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee labor and delivery operations for a high-volume facility with Level IV NICU capabilities.
• Lead and develop nursing staff and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Partner with executive leadership to ensure quality, safety, and patient-centered care.
• Manage staffing, budgets, and operational performance for the department.

Qualifications:

• Washington Registered Nurse License (Washington state is a compact state).
• 3+ years of Labor and Delivery leadership experience.
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Our leaders receive an attractive compensation package including housing, transportation, and regular travel home. The pay rate for this position is $800–$850 per day ($208,000–$221,000 annually). The final pay rate is determined by experience, expertise, and education.
