Job summary

Cherry Bekaert Recruiting & Staffing is partnered with a venture-backed startup seeking an Interim Controller in Boston, MA for a 3+ month contract at $80-$100/hour (hybrid). This hands-on accounting leadership role reports to founders and works with executive leadership to strengthen accounting operations.

You will lead day-to-day close, ensure accurate reporting, improve controls, support budgeting and forecasting, and help with audit readiness and policy implementation while building scalable

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• Significant experience serving as a Controller or senior accounting leader.
• Experience in venture-backed and/or private equity-backed companies.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations and oversee the monthly close process.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for management and stakeholders.
• Evaluate and improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures.
• Support cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting activities.
• Partner with executive leadership on financial strategy and operational initiatives.
• Assist with audit readiness, compliance, and accounting policy implementation.
• Help build scalable accounting infrastructure to support continued growth.
