Job summary

Georgia Power, a Southern Company subsidiary, is seeking a Distribution Interconnections Planning Engineer in Atlanta to support DG interconnections, modeling, and system studies, ensuring safe and reliable connections for solar, storage, and other DERs.

You will review interconnection agreements, coordinate with engineering teams, and apply knowledge of transmission and distribution planning, power flow, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in engineering; electrical discipline preferred.
• Advanced certifications such as PE license preferred.
• Experience with planning, design, operation, or maintenance of utility assets.

Responsibilities

• Review DG interconnections agreements for PSC-approved projects.
• Support project studies and technical analyses for DG interconnections.
• Coordinate transmission and distribution system studies and related analyses.
• Review interconnection facilities design and upgrade needs.
• Perform contract reviews prior to execution.
• Provide technical guidance to other GPC workgroups on interconnections.
