Job summary

Southern Company is seeking an Integrated Grid Planning Engineer for Generator Interconnection in Birmingham, Alabama. You will lead and perform grid planning studies related to generation changes on the transmission system, focusing on OATT generator interconnection studies and coordination with multiple internal teams.

The role requires strong knowledge of power system analysis, programming (Python/C#/VB.NET), and the ability to present findings to management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited program is required.
• Master’s degree is desirable for advanced responsibilities.
• Professional Engineer license is desirable and advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Ensure OATT and state generator interconnection studies are completed on time and accurately.
• Perform generator interconnection OATT studies for new generation through Annual Cluster or serial studies.
• Coordinate study assumptions and results with multiple internal groups and stakeholders.
• Present reports to internal and external customers at various management levels.
• Provide technical leadership in industry committees and research initiatives.
• Support analysis tools with automation and programming enhancements.
