Georgia Power is seeking a Distribution Engineer focused on Interconnections Planning to support DG projects across Georgia. You will review interconnections agreements, perform system studies, and collaborate with SCS and GPC workgroups to ensure safe, efficient interconnections for customers and communities.
Candidate should have a 4-year engineering degree (Electrical preferred) with experience in planning and modeling; PE license is a plus.
The number of Distributed Generation (DG) sites is increasing throughout Georgia, as solar, battery storage, and biomass technology is implemented to facilitate renewable energy. This Interconnections Planning Distribution Engineer position has opportunities to gain experience with Distributed Energy Resource modeling, area contingency studies, and real-world applications. The successful candidate will provide technical review and support towards DG projects, as well as learn about energy procurement programs. The successful candidate will also work closely with SCS and GPC workgroups (such as Customer Programs, Renewable Development, Distribution Reliability, Area Planning, Transmission Interconnections, and area Power Delivery teams) to ensure that new interconnections safely meet the needs of GPC, its customers, and communities.
For candidates not currently residing in the Metro Atlanta area, relocation assistance will be considered as needed on a case-by-case basis.
