Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking an experienced Intelligent Modeling Coordinator to lead cross‑discipline coordination for transit and multimodal projects. You will integrate models across architecture, structures, transportation, roadway design and MEP into a federated, clash‑checked deliverable and guide production staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with vocational technical training in basic CADD drafting technology and intelligent modeling.
• 12 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and workload.
• Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

• Cross-discipline coordination — Serves as the firm's go-to Intelligent Modeling Coordinator for transit and multimodal projects, coordinating deliverables across architecture, vertical structures, transportation structures, roadway design, and MEP into a single federated, clash‑checked model throughout the project lifecycle.
• Model coordination & clash detection — Runs clash detection in Navisworks and leads resolution across disciplines, catching conflicts early.
• Standards & governance — Establishes, documents, and enforces CADD/BIM standards, templates, and workflows across offices.
• Mentorship & guidance — Provides lower‑level modeling personnel with design sketches and guides production staff across offices.
• Acts as Intelligent Modeling Coordinator for project lifecycle to ensure coordination between design team.
• Performs crosscheck of drawings to ensure consistency with guidelines and QC standards.
• CADD/technical support tasks such as verifying model integrity and maintaining interoperability across Autodesk and Bentley toolsets.
• Reviews manufacturers' or fabricators' prints for aid in design documents.
• Determines material needs and performs calculations per firm standards.
• Establishes design criteria for project phases with engineering principles and construction familiarity.
• Provides conceptual input during planning stages and supports field assignments.
• Develops BIM Execution Plans and advises on LOE and production levels.
• Interfaces with clients, agencies, and subconsultants on deliverable requirements and data handoff standards.
• Performs other duties as required.
