Job summary

Community Health Network of Connecticut, Inc. (CHNCT) seeks a Non-Clinical Intake Representative on a temporary assignment through staffing agencies in Wallingford, CT.

You will triage calls, enter referrals, gather medical information, and support clinical staff with medical necessity determinations. The role requires 1–3 years of related experience, a high school diploma or GED, and strong communications and data-entry skills.

Qualifications

• Claims processing background preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal/telephone communication skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD9 and CPT 4 coding.
• Strong word processing and data entry skills.
• Ability to handle several tasks concurrently.

Responsibilities

• Triages all incoming calls into the Utilization Management Unit and enters referrals into the system.
• Requests clinical information and forwards referrals requiring medical necessity determination to clinical staff.
• Provides support for claim related provider appeals.
• Reviews referrals for completeness, verifies eligibility and network status; assists with new hospital admissions.
• Maintains knowledge of Medicaid benefits and coordinates COB/TPL referrals.
• Maintains confidentiality of member records and acts as a preceptor to new staff.
