Job summary

CAMBA’s HomeBase division seeks an Intake Specialist in Brooklyn, NY. You will coordinate intake for housing crises, assess homelessness risk, explain eligibility, schedule appointments, and connect clients with community resources.

You will also maintain client files, perform data entry, and collaborate with program staff to ensure coordinated service delivery. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, 4+ years of relevant experience, and strong writing/communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum four years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Ability to use basic math in daily tasks.
• Good problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Willingness to learn and adapt to new processes.
• Second language ability preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate intake with individuals and families facing housing crises.
• Assess homelessness risk based on program guidelines.
• Explain services, eligibility requirements, and limitations to clients.
• Schedule appointments, referrals, and provide resource information.
• Maintain up-to-date client resources in reception area.
• Conduct outreach to publicize services.
• Enter data, file, copy, and fax documents.
• Refer to internal and external housing, legal, and employment resources.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure coordinated service delivery.
• Stay informed on housing trends and DHS/DSS/HRA guidelines.
• Attend team meetings, supervision, and trainings.
