Job summary

Volunteers of America Colorado is hiring an Intake Specialist to support the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. You will conduct intake, eligibility screening, and referrals for callers and walk-ins, while maintaining positive community relations.

This role requires experience in human services, a Colorado driver’s license, and proficiency with MS Office and collaboration tools. Travel across service areas is expected.

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in communication, human services, administration, or related fields.
• 1 year of direct service in human services.
• Colorado driver’s license and state-mandated automobile insurance.
• Personal vehicle for work travel (mileage reimbursement).
• Credentialing within 12 weeks of hire and maintenance thereafter.
• Proficient with MS Office, Slack, Zoom, Google Teams, Google Calendar, Dropbox/Google Drive, Asana, and Windows.

Responsibilities

• Receive and assess calls for service and conduct intake, screening households for eligibility.
• Enter eligible Veteran clients’ case files for approval; refer ineligible applicants to suitable programs.
• Maintain a database of active community supports linking veteran households to resources.
• Apply Trauma-Informed Care and Housing First approaches in engagements.
• Provide administrative and programmatic support for client service teams.
• Document all eligibility screening activities in logs (paper and electronic).
• Maintain/track data inflow and report outcomes; attend meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
