Job summary

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago is hiring an Intake Coordinator in Chicago to assess eligibility, assist housing needs, coordinate rent renewals, and transport clients for apartment viewings. You will maintain client records and work with staff to secure resources for clients.

Minimum BA/BS in a related field with 1–3 years of experience; strong organizational and communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess prospective clients for program eligibility and review documentation.
  • Inspect apartments to ensure HUD compliance and safety standards.
  • Transport clients to view apartments and assist with furnishings as needed.
  • Coordinate rent renewals and collect monthly rent.
  • Maintain up-to-date client files, case notes and databases.
  • Collaborate with staff and outside vendors; participate in outreach.
  • Engage in ongoing learning and training; apply feedback to improve performance.

Role Overview The Intake Coordinator involves assessing client eligibility, assisting with housing needs, conducting apartment inspections, coordinating rent renewals, transporting clients, collecting rent, maintaining accurate records, participating in community outreach, and complying with relevant laws and regulations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assess prospective clients for program eligibility through receipt of internal and external referrals. Responsible for collecting and reviewing all documentation to determine program eligibility. Responsible for apartment inspections to ensure apartment are safe and in compliance with Housing and Urban Development Housing Quality Standards. Transport clients to view potential apartments and assisting with obtaining and maintaining basic household furnishings as needed.
  • Assist clients with coordination of rent renewals and advocate for clients to resolve any landlord-related issues. Responsible for calculating client rent and collecting the rent on a monthly basis. Responsible for annual lease renewal and inspection to ensure apartment is safe in compliance with HUD standards. Meets with client as required by program or based on client needs.
  • Responsible for maintaining up to date and accurate client files, case notes and databases, as required by organization/programmatic polices ad procedures, professional standards, external requirements of all relevant regulatory and licensing or accrediting bodies. Know and comply with the laws and regulations relevant to the position and services.
  • Work collaboratively and/or coordinates with staff, other departments and outside vendors. Participate in community outreach to obtain additional resources for clients.
  • Engage in ongoing learning, training, and skill development, seeking and applying feedback to continuously improve performance and contribute to team and organizational success.

PLEASE NOTE: Essential functions include all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Kneel and move from sitting, bending, kneeling, or standing multiple times a day
  • Climb up and down up to 3 flights of stairs at a time
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 25 lbs

Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum

  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in a related field of study 1-3 years relevant of experience

$23.30 - $25.00 / hour
