Job summary

Best Point Education & Behavioral Health in Hamilton, OH is seeking an Intake & Benefits Specialist to join our team. You will coordinate referrals, verify insurance, schedule appointments, and support the intake process from start to finish in a fast-paced behavioral health setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience working with confidential information in a professional setting.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a healthcare, behavioral health, medical office, or related setting preferred
  • Experience with insurance verification, benefits coordination, referrals, scheduling, or patient intake processes.
  • Knowledge of EHR systems, scheduling software, and electronic documentation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and process referrals from providers, hospitals, schools, community agencies, and other referral sources.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, families, providers, and community partners throughout the intake and referral process.
  • Open new client records and maintain accurate demographic, insurance, and payer information within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Verify insurance coverage and update financial payer information to support service authorization and billing readiness.
  • Schedule intake appointments, medication management appointments, and other clinical services.
  • Maintain referral logs, intake trackers, and supporting documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Manage incoming referral documentation, faxes, authorizations, releases of information, and related records.
  • Communicate referral updates, documentation needs, and appointment information to clinical and administrative staff.
  • Answer office and referral phone lines in a professional, compassionate, and solution-focused manner.
  • Assist with appointment scheduling, client check-in processes, and collection of co-payments when applicable.
  • Provide guidance to front desk and office staff regarding insurance, referrals, and intake procedures.
  • Support daily office operations and provide coverage at other agency locations as needed.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and ensure the confidentiality of all client information.

Best Point Education & Behavioral Health is seeking a detail-oriented, customer-focused Intake & Benefits Specialist in our Hamilton office to serve as a key connection point for children, families, adults, referral partners, and clinical teams. In this role, you'll help ensure timely access to behavioral health services by coordinating referrals, verifying insurance and payer information, scheduling appointments, and supporting the intake process from start to finish.

Work Environment

Exposed to a combination of office, school, and mental health treatment environments.
