Job summary

Raydar is seeking a senior backend engineer to build core infrastructure for underwriting, pricing and policy workflows in a regulated insurtech environment. You will collaborate with actuaries, underwriters and product teams to translate domain logic into durable production systems.

You will own backend services end-to-end, shipping features and automation that reduce manual work. On-site work in New York or San Francisco is required.

Qualifications

• 4 to 8 years as a full-stack or backend software engineer at a venture-backed startup or big tech company.
• Shipped product or backend work; infrastructure-only experience does not count.
• Ownership of production backend services end-to-end.
• Willing to work on-site full-time in New York or San Francisco.
• Experience in regulated industries: fintech, insurtech, legal tech or health tech.

Responsibilities

• Build full-stack features and backend services for underwriting, pricing and policy workflows
• Translate actuarial and underwriting logic into production-grade services
• Own production backend services end to end, from design through operation
• Build agentic and automation features that remove manual, paper-heavy work
• Collaborate closely with underwriters, actuaries and product partners
