American Family Care (AFC) is seeking a Medical Receptionist with a sharp focus on insurance verification and revenue recovery. You will verify coverage before services, explain costs to patients, and resolve billing issues while upholding patient satisfaction.

This full-time role supports our urgent care network with friendly patient interactions, HIPAA-compliant records, and a fast-paced front desk workflow across AFC clinics. salary range: $17–$19 per hour.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred; X-Ray Tech, Medical Assistant or related certification is a plus.
• Active BLS certification required or must be obtained within defined onboarding period.
• Experience with insurance verification and medical billing is required.
• Experience as Medical Receptionist/Administrative Assistant or in Customer Service in a medical office setting.
• Tech-savvy with medical billing software and EMR systems.
• Attention to detail with a single digit error impacting billing.

Responsibilities

• Master Insurance Verification: verify coverage before services to prevent denials and maximize revenue.
• Excel at Financial Counseling: explain costs, billing processes, and insurance complexities to patients clearly.
• Solve Billing Problems: identify and resolve insurance discrepancies and billing issues before they impact revenue.
• Drive Patient Satisfaction: provide exceptional service during difficult financial conversations while handling payments.
• Be the Face of AFC: greet patients with warmth and professionalism.
• Own the Front Desk Flow: process payments, schedule appointments, and manage patient check-ins efficiently.
• Protect Patient Information: maintain organized records and HIPAA compliance.
