Overview

Foxquilt is redefining how small businesses access commercial insurance through embedded technology, operational innovation, and modern distribution. We work at the intersection of insurance, technology, and data to build scalable insurance programs that deliver exceptional broker and customer experiences.

We are looking for an execution‑oriented Insurance Operations Manager to help drive underwriting performance, product development initiatives, operational excellence, process modernization, and compliance support across our insurance programs in both the US and Canada.

This is a highly cross‑functional role suited for someone with strong underwriting knowledge, operational discipline, and the ability to independently drive initiatives in a fast‑moving environment.

The Role

The Insurance Operations Manager will serve as a key operational and underwriting resource supporting product performance, new product development, audit and compliance readiness, and process improvement initiatives across the organization.

This individual will operate as a de‑facto underwriting subject‑matter expert working closely with front‑line staff, distribution leadership, and the technology team to improve underwriting outcomes and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate is highly self‑directed, commercially minded, detail‑oriented, and comfortable influencing senior leaders.

The Insurance Operations Manager will also help identify opportunities to leverage automation, analytics, and AI‑enabled tools to improve underwriting operations, operational efficiency, reporting capabilities, and workflow execution across the business.

Key Responsibilities
Insurance Product Development & Performance
  • Support the development, launch, and operational rollout of new commercial insurance products
  • Monitor underwriting and portfolio performance of the current and future programs
  • Develop and maintain operational and underwriting performance dashboards
  • Identify trends, operational risks, and opportunities for underwriting improvement
  • Provide recommendations to leadership regarding product enhancements, workflow optimization, and refinements
  • Coordinate cross‑functional execution plans related to product launches and operational initiatives
Underwriting Operations & Compliance Support
  • Act as an underwriting operations resource across the organization
  • Support audit readiness and compliance initiatives for insurance programs in both the US and Canada
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure operational consistency and adherence to guidelines and program requirements
  • Assist with documenting operational procedures, controls, and workflows
  • Help ensure program changes are operationally executable and scalable
Process Improvement & Operational Execution
  • Identify and lead operational improvement initiatives across Foxquilt
  • Analyze workflows and recommend improvements that increase conversion, reduce turnaround times, and improve the customer experience
  • Drive project execution and ensure timelines and deliverables are achievedIndependently identify and execute high‑impact operational initiatives
  • Evaluate and support the implementation of AI‑enabled and automation‑driven operational improvements across account management, sales, underwriting, reporting, workflow management, and internal processes
  • Partner with operational and technology stakeholders to identify opportunities for data‑driven decision‑making and scalable operational tooling
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial insurance, underwriting operations, MGA operations, or insurance product operations
  • Prior commercial underwriting experience strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting or launching commercial insurance products is considered a strong asset
  • Strong understanding of commercial insurance operations and underwriting workflowsAbility to analyze operational and underwriting performance data and translate insights into action
  • Comfortable operating in a high‑growth, evolving environment with limited structure
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly self‑motivated and execution‑oriented
  • Experience working cross‑functionally with operations, distribution, underwriting, and technology teams
  • Curiosity and interest in emerging technologies, including AI and workflow automation within insurance operations
  • Experience leveraging AI, automation, or operational tooling to improve workflows and business efficiency is considered an asset
