Job summary

Cole, Scott & Kissane, a premier AV-rated litigation firm in Miami, seeks a full-time experienced Litigation Legal Assistant to support two busy attorneys in their Miami office. Insurance Defense experience is required and candidate must be on-site, with strong organizational and teamwork skills.

The role involves deposition/trial preparation, case management, e-filing in Florida and federal courts, and extensive MS Office use.

Qualifications

• Must have at least 2-3 years of experience as a legal assistant.
• Familiarity with legal procedures & terminology.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of Federal and Florida Rules of Civil Procedure.
• Experience with electronic filing in state and federal courts and calendaring.
• Knowledge of the litigation process.
• Knowledge of court procedures including Florida E-Filing (ECF).
• Experience with Trial preparation.
• Advanced skill level with Microsoft Office software, excellent typing and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Case Management and Document management using Litify, iManage and Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe. E-file legal documents in Florida's E-Portal System.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and stay calm under pressure of multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Assist lawyers and paralegals on day to day tasks relating to litigation.
• Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, hearings, trials and conferences.
• Administrative duties including coordinating meetings, scheduling, answering and directing calls, maintaining electronic files, and updating case status.
• Scheduling hearings, pre-depositions, depositions, mediations, conferences, and other events.
• Compile and organize documents, prepare binders/folders.
• Gather and organize records and materials.
• Scheduling and Calendaring.
