Job summary

Travelers in Tampa seeks a Counsel to handle a caseload of predominantly low to moderate complexity, supporting insured clients and claim partners. You will develop litigation strategies, perform research, draft pleadings, and manage cases from inception through trial and appeal with a focus on strong client service.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in insurance defense litigation, a J.D., an active license, and the ability to travel to court appearances.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Experience handling cases from inception through trial/hearing & appeal.
• Strong communication skills for diverse audiences.
• Persuasive legal writing and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolution.
• Conduct legal research and demonstrate strong and persuasive legal writing and presentation skills.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and other appointments independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners on file handling strategies.
• Build and maintain strong internal and external client and business partner relationships.
• Provide advice and training to Claim partners and clients.
• Fully and effectively utilize available technology, case management system and automation.
• Travel as required to meet business needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
