Job summary

Travelers Insurance in the United States seeks a Counsel to manage a caseload of predominantly low to moderate complexity, from inception through trial and appeal. You will apply litigation skills to verdicts, conduct legal research, draft pleadings and briefs, and collaborate with claim partners and clients.

The role requires a JD, license to practice in required states, 3+ years' defense experience, strong writing and negotiation skills, and willingness to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent; graduate of an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in the state(s) required.
• 3+ years of insurance defense litigation experience as a practicing attorney.

Responsibilities

• Develop and apply litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolutions.
• Conduct legal research and produce persuasive writing and presentations.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other documents.
• Attend court events, depositions, and appointments.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners.
• Build relationships with clients and partners and provide training to stakeholders.
• Utilize case management systems and technology.
• Travel as required to meet business needs.
