Job summary

Travelers is seeking a qualified Counsel to manage a caseload of primarily low to moderate complexity in insurance defense for insured clients. From inception through trial and appeal, you will apply litigation skills to obtain optimal results and deliver proactive case handling.

The ideal candidate holds a Juris Doctorate, an active license to practice in the required state(s), and at least two years of experience.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent; licensed to practice in required states.
• 2 years of experience as a practicing attorney.
• Active license to practice law in the state(s) required.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Handle a caseload of predominantly low to moderate complexity with case handling from inception through trial/appeal.
• Develop and apply litigation skills to try cases to verdict or negotiate resolution.
• Conduct legal research and write persuasive pleadings, motions, briefs and other documents.
• Attend court events, depositions and appointments independently.
• Provide case analysis and recommendations to insured clients and claim partners on file handling strategies.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and business partners.
• Provide advice and training to Claim partners and clients.
• Fully utilize technology and case management tools; travel as needed.
