Job summary

The Division of Insurance in Anchorage, Alaska is recruiting a Consumer Service Specialist (Insurance) to review complaints across all regulated lines and determine whether Alaska Insurance law has been violated. You will respond to questions from the public and provide referrals and resources to help consumers.

Located in the Atwood Building, you will join a team dedicated to protecting Alaskans and improving consumer understanding of insurance.

Qualifications

• Analytical thinking and problem solving.
• Customer service: anticipates and meets the needs of internal and external customers.
• Insurance: knowledge of insurance types, regulations, processing, adjudication.
• Oral and written communication: clear presentations and effective listening.
• Reading comprehension: interpret technical material.

Responsibilities

• Review complaints for all regulated lines of insurance and determine if violations occurred.
• Respond to insurance-related questions and provide referrals and resources to the public.
• Facilitate final level health insurance appeals.
• Support consumer protection initiatives and educate the public on insurance regulations.
