Northwest Partners is supporting a major initiative with a top-tier organization in the insurance space and is looking for an experienced Agency Development Manager to contribute to the success of this work. This field-based role will develop agency relationships and drive growth across the New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia territory, with a focus on excess and surplus property insurance.

What YOU will do
  • Develop and nurture relationships with new and existing insurance agencies to drive qualified submissions, written premium, and policies in force.
  • Build and expand the assigned agency territory, with primary focus on New Jersey and regular travel throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia.
  • Travel approximately 60% during the initial year, including overnight stays as needed; travel requirements may decrease as the territory becomes established.
  • Generate new premium growth through phone calls, email, virtual meetings, and in-person agency visits.
  • Prospect for new agency opportunities while developing a warm existing book of agency relationships.
  • Provide agency training and ongoing support on systems, products, underwriting guidelines, and submission processes.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource on excess and surplus property insurance products and changing market conditions.
  • Work with agencies on pre-quote opportunities and respond quickly to changes in rates, underwriting requirements, and market conditions.
  • Use critical thinking to determine effective approaches for agency development and account growth.
  • Manage territory activity, schedules, priorities, and agency relationships independently while maintaining alignment with business objectives.
  • Maintain accurate records of agency interactions and activity in CRM systems.
  • Monitor performance metrics and identify opportunities for additional training, agency development, or premium growth.
  • Communicate competitive market information and agency feedback to internal product and business teams.
  • Represent the organization professionally during agency visits, trade shows, conferences, and other industry events.
  • Meet or exceed individual and team performance goals.
What YOU will bring us
  • 2–4 years of Property & Casualty insurance industry experience.
  • Experience in agency development, territory sales, account management, or a related insurance distribution role.
  • Knowledge of personal lines property insurance, with excess and surplus experience strongly preferred.
  • An active Property & Casualty insurance license, such as a 2-20 license, is preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately 60% initially within the assigned territory, including overnight stays.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with insurance agents and agency stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of agency workflows, insurance submissions, quoting, underwriting guidelines, and market dynamics.
  • Ability to think critically, make sound business decisions, and adapt quickly to changing priorities and market conditions.
  • Self-directed approach with strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Results-oriented mindset and interest in performance-based compensation opportunities.
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with new and existing agency contacts through in-person, telephone, and virtual interactions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CRM software such as Salesforce.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
  • Professional representation of the organization in all internal and external interactions.
  • Ability to drive a personal or rental vehicle for business travel and maintain required insurance coverage; acceptable motor vehicle record results are required.
