Job summary
Freese and Nichols, Inc. in Tampa, Florida seeks an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to support I&C design for water and wastewater projects.
You will collaborate with licensed engineers and project leads to develop design documents, apply standards, and gain practical experience with process control systems. You will help prepare instrument lists, data sheets, loop drawings, and control narratives, while learning CAD/BIM workflows and client standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline.
- Foundational understanding of engineering drawings, specs, and control concepts.
- Ability to acquire EIT certification in time.
Responsibilities
- Assist with I&C design deliverables for water and wastewater projects: instrument lists, data sheets, panel schedules, loops, P&ID markups.
- Prepare, update and organize technical documentation; incorporate QA/QC feedback and self-check work.
- Learn and apply I&C team standards, drawing practices, naming conventions and client standards.
- Build familiarity with process instrumentation, control loops, PLC/RTU/SCADA terminology and alarms.
- Develop basic I&C design info: instrument IDs, signal types, panel data, conduit/cable refs, interfaces.
