Job summary

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Systems Engineer to join our Southeast team in Florida. You will lead project-level I&C design and mentor junior staff, working across planning, design through construction, startup and commissioning with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

The ideal candidate has 10–15 years in I&C and electrical/industrial processes, Florida PE license, and hands-on experience with P&ID, PLC/SCADA, and NEC/NFPA codes; you will coordinate

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• 10–15 years of progressively responsible engineering experience in I&C, controls, electrical, or industrial processes.
• Experience with instrumentation and control systems used in water/wastewater or similar industrial facilities.
• Licensed Florida Professional Engineer (PE).
• Knowledge of NFPA 70/NEC and related codes for instrumentation, controls, electrical systems, and industrial facilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead I&C studies, prepare memos and reports, including Basis of Design and Preliminary Engineering Reports.
• Develop complete I&C drawings: P&IDs, PFDs, control networks, wiring diagrams.
• Create specifications for I&C systems, SCADA, and networks; contribute to master specs.
• Coordinate I&C designs with process, electrical, mechanical, and civil teams.
• Perform QA/QC on calculations, drawings, specs for accuracy and coordination.
• Support construction phase: reviews, RFIs, field conditions, and directives.
• Assist startup, testing, and commissioning of PLCs/SCADA and integrated equipment.
• Develop cost estimates for I&C work and networks.
• Maintain client relationships and assist business development.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers.
