Job summary

Hazen and Sawyer invites applications for a Senior Instrumentation & I&C Systems Engineer to join the Southeast team in Florida. The role leads project-level I&C engineering, mentors junior staff, and oversees design through startup and commissioning for water/wastewater projects.

The candidate will develop P&ID, PFDs, and network architectures, coordinate with disciplines, and contribute to technical specifications and cost estimates. A Florida PE license and strong leadership are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license; Florida licensed.
• Experience with instrumentation and control systems in water/wastewater or similar industrial facilities.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70/NEC and related codes for instrumentation and controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering studies and prepare technical memoranda and reports.
• Develop complete I&C drawings: P&IDs, PFDs, network diagrams, wiring diagrams.
• Create technical specs for instrumentation, control systems, SCADA and networking.
• Perform site visits, client workshops, and project meetings.
• Coordinate I&C designs across disciplines to deliver integrated designs.
• Conduct quality reviews of calculations, drawings, specs with emphasis on accuracy and coordination.
• Support construction phase with submittals, RFIs, field directives.
• Oversee startup, testing, commissioning of control systems and PLC/SCADA.
• Assist cost estimating for I&C, SCADA, networks with the estimating group.
• Develop client relationships and assist in scopes, proposals, and fee estimates.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
