Job summary

ExxonMobil Baytown, TX is seeking an Instrument Engineer to provide instrument engineering expertise at the site, focusing on process measurement, SIS, PLCs, and field instrumentation for safe and reliable operations.

You will size and specify instrumentation, support maintenance, read P&IDs, and collaborate across disciplines. A Bachelor's in Electrical/Electronic engineering and 3+ years in petrochemical/refining are required; familiarity with SPI, DCS, SIS, and ICS cybersecurity is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, or related Engineering discipline
• 3+ years in petrochemical, refining, or chemical industry
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs; familiarity with ISA/API standards
• Knowledge of field instrumentation, signal transmission, and process safety requirements
• Working knowledge of DCS, SIS, and industrial control systems from major vendors

Responsibilities

• Provide instrument engineering expertise for safe, reliable operations
• Size, specify and install instrumentation for new or existing instruments
• Support maintenance, troubleshoot and tune instruments and systems
• Participate in safety, risk assessments, and incident investigations related to instrumentation
• Collaborate across disciplines within engineering and maintenance
