Job summary

LSB Chemical L.L.C. seeks an Instrument Engineer to design and specify instrumentation systems for process plants, ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and efficiency.

You will oversee procurement, installation oversight, and lifecycle management of field devices, supporting capital projects through commissioning and handover. The role requires a strong background in instrument sizing, P&IDs, SIS principles, and industry codes, with collaboration across disciplines and vendors to meet safety

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 7 years of instrumentation engineering in heavy industrial or process manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with SIS design principles (IEC 61511/ISA 84) and SIL verification preferred.
  • Strong ability to read P&IDs and instrument datasheets.

Responsibilities

  • Design & engineering: develop instrumentation designs, P&IDs, data sheets and instrument requirements.
  • Provide instrumentation support for capital projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Review vendor drawings, FAT/SAT testing, and documentation.
  • Lead or support instrument sizing, valve sizing, and performance analysis.
  • Develop standards, specifications and best practices for instrumentation.
  • Participate in HAZOP/LOPA/SIS studies and ensure compliance with ISA/IEC/API/NFPA/NEC/ASME.
  • Mentor I&C specialists and assist in training on instrumentation principles and new technologies.
